From the best animals to see to the best shows to attend, in this post there is everything you need to know about visiting Taronga Zoo from a local's perspective!
Taronga Zoo is Sydney's admired zoo that is an extremely popular attraction amongst many tourists in Sydney. To buy tickets click here.
“Incredible location this zoo is surrounded by one of the greatest harbours in the world. Truly worth the visit.”
Taronga Zoo houses over 4000 animals from over 350 species, many of which are threatened. My personal favourites to visit are the meerkats, koalas and seals.
Taronga has a special area dedicated to marine life which really transports you to a new life under the surface where you can view the assortment of fish, turtles, sharks (and occasionally mermaids!) up close in an eerie environment.
Shows
Taronga Zoo Sydney's infamous shows are a must see on your visit! There is the spectacular bird show, and the entertaining seal show, and I strongly recommend you see at least one of these. In the bird show, you are shown multiple well trained birds from a variety of species, including the wedge-tailed eagle and the cockatoo! Make sure to duck as they fly over your heads to perform tricks!
The seal show is an entertaining show, targeted particularly to families. If your child is eager to participate in the show, make sure to sit near the front (past at least row 3 if you do not want to get wet!) to increase your chances of being picked! You will meet the best seals that Taronga have to offer, with good views from all around the arena of their sensational tricks, dives and speed!
I hope that you seriously consider visiting Sydney's infamous zoo on your trip to The Harbour City!
Have fun and safe travels!
Remember: travel, relax, repeat xx
